Research Group on the COVID-19 Pandemic and Global Capitalism The COVID-19 pandemic may have led to the most significant public health emergency of the 21st century, with enormous implications for global capitalism. This research group seeks to understand how the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI) and BRI countries have been economically affected by the pandemic. The group’s research agenda is also extended to explore the pandemic’s effects on the global balance of powers as well as long-term policy responses to the deepening crisis of global capitalism.
